Laguna Niguel to Santa Barbara

Jane Reporting for 7th September

Yesterday (7th September) we left Pete and Marilynn's and headed out on the road trip.  We won't be back in Laguna until the 17th October, with some 7,500 miles behind us.

It took us a while to get organised in the morning but I expect once we've got into the routine of packing up and leaving we'll get better at it and it was pleasing to find the bags fitted into the boot of the car without any trouble.

The drive through LA was pretty easy going with just a few slow spots where the traffic went slow, slow, very slow, and once completely stopped.  Then we popped out of six lanes of traffic into a smaller road heading up the coast.  We could tell we were on the coast because of the sea fog that hovered to our left much of the way.

We finally reached Santa Barbara, cruised along State Street, found a car park, and wandered around the waterfront and pier.  That is, Gary, Geoff, and Lynn wandered out along the pier and as it looked way too sunny for me, I sat in the shade and read a book.

We then strolled a way up State Street and discovered this commemorative plaque about the aircraft built in Santa Barbara between 1916 and 1921.

We checked into the motel for beer o'clock and then went out for tea and a wander down a very busy after-dark State Street.
