Don reporting
About ten this morning I headed off to the ferry for very short trip across to Granville Island and the markets. I had planned this trip (a short walk) before I left home. I had written down instructions for the walk to the ferry and everything would have been OK if only I could remember which was my left and right. After a few errors I finally got on to Hornby Street and headed down to the ferry. The bottom of the street is high-rise residential and laid out in gardens and trees. At the bottom of the street was an Aquabus terminal that would take me the short trip to the Granville Island markets.
I wanted to go by water to travel on small boats I had watched and photographed in Victoria on a previous trip.
Unfortunately the ones that came both on the trip over and back were modern aluminium catamarans.
The markets were well worth the trip and very similar to the Queens Market in Melbourne and the one in Adelaide Australia.
The markets are in old converted buildings, the first appeared to be an old engineering work shop with the overhead travelling crane still in place.
There were lots of produce .....
and food some extremely nice ......
while some was on the healthy side.
After a few hours at the markets I headed back to the hotel. I had planned to watch the cup which over here started about 1.30 pm. I couldn't find anything on TV and the morning paper didn't even mentioned it. No trouble I used my trusty iPad to connect to TVNZ and watch the online streaming video. Got it all set up clicked on the live video streaming button and nothing happened. Eventually I discovered that because of copyright the live video can only be streamed to people on NZ. So I settled down and watch 'Rio Bravo' and old John Wayne movie on TCM.
Tonight I strolled down Davie Street and found a restaurant, the 'La Brasserie' and had a marvellous meal of suckling pig and sour kraut and a glass of Grenache/Syrah. The wine was French and compared to Southern Hemisphere wines it appeared watery or as if the had left the fruit out.
Ok that is enough for now. I will leave to enjoy the photographs and have fun correcting the writing.
