Back in California

Jane Reporting for 1st September

We're here!  Flight was okay but no spare seats or anything and I couldn't even get an aisle seat which rather stressed me out.  In the end it wasn't too bad and I slept for ages during the flight, only reading about half a book and playing a few games of Tetris on the entertainment centre in the back of the seat in front.  Luckily the guy in front didn't recline his seat at all so I felt like I had a fair bit of room despite being wedged in by the window.

As soon as we arrived we wandered off to pick up the rental car.  Here's Gary on the rental car company bus - almost the same as the photo from last year!

I finished reading my book while Gary was wheeling and dealing with the counter staff and he went and checked out three cars before deciding on the Ford Taurus in (from my point of view) a very pretty cherry red.

The reason this car was 'the one'? It had the biggest boot space!  No need to pack light, Lyn.

Then we set off on the 40 minute drive to Glendale where I'll be doing some cat research at the Glendale Public Library on Tuesday.

Gary's spent a couple of hours at the motel getting the car set up just how he wants it and how we're off to tea.

P.S. (after tea)

We went to a Thai restaurant for tea - very nice food and we were able to sit outside watching the wold go by.

On the way home we went to Trader Joe's store which is just across the road.  Gary got some wine and I got this:
Plumcot: Plum meets Apricot
No, really, it was a plum.  I can't think of anything about it that was even remotely apricot-like.  They had another apparent hybrid there between plums and apricots so I might try that tomorrow night.
