Ragdoll Research: day 3 with Wain Pearce (plus!)

by Jane

Yes, all good things must come to an end, but not before I had taken nearly 350 photos of documents from the Ragdoll history archives that Wain Pearce holds.  Here are a couple of great snippets from among the many, many great things.

Very early Ragdoll blurb

The following one is great because there's a 'chain of evidence thing going on.  The photo inside the envelope (and the envelope is named J.B. Bumble) is one I'm familiar with but the two cats are usually identified as B'wana and Woo Wong.  I've had some teeny tiny reservations about that (because of the relative ages the cats would have been in the photo) and have seen another version of the photo just giving one cat's name and referring to the other as 'a littermate'.

Here is that same photo with the other cat missing so that it is clear that the one left is the cat under discussion, plus the name on the envelope, plus the attached letter.

Is this cat J.B. Bumble?  I can't wait to get home nd have time enough to give this some serious thought!

The J.B. Bumble mystery

So ends three exceptionally rewarding days immersed in the Ragdoll history archives.  Many thanks must go to Wain Pearce for letting me all but move in to his home while I took hundreds and hundreds of photos of the documents and didn't even scratch the surface of what is there.

While I was busy with the Ragdoll research Gary was doing camera repairs.  My much loved camera had developed a Big Black Spot during our visit to Denny Dayton's place and this was the first chance Gary had to find the time to settle down and try to fix it.

We've been staying in Roseville and Wain lives in Edina so it's been a bit of a drive across town at the beginning and end of each research day.  Finally we remembered to take some photos of what the city looked like on the drive.

Last but not least here's Dad, 'raising a glass' for my brother's birthday.

Happy birthday, Blair!
