Maureen and the Cheesecake Factory

by Jane

Yesterday [Wednesday, 10th October] From Max Meadows to Raleigh, South Carolina to visit with Dad's friend Maureen.  Maureen and Dad met of a cruise in the Mediterranean in 2008 (?) and since then Maureen has caught up with Dad (and met us) during a visit to New Zealand, Dad has caught up with Maureen during a visit to Canada, and this time we've met up with her in the US.  What busy people!

As it wasn't a long drive to Raleigh I insisted on a shopping stop and Gary obligingly found a huge mall at Greensboro.  Here I am on the third floor (where the food was as it was lunch time).
Me, shopping
The caption is a bit of an exaggeration, though, as I did find something I wanted to buy - absolutely the perfect thing I needed - and it wasn't for sale.  (Okay, it was only a mesh carry bag that was the shop's equivalent of a shopping trolley but they had 50+ of them and I don't know what sort of rush they were expecting because I don't think they could have fitted 50+ people in the shop.)  Not for sale under any circumstances.  Now that's annoying!

On, on to Raleigh!

We went out for dinner with Maureen to the Cheesecake Factory.  What a huge place - and very busy even on a Wednesday night.  We all have lovely meals (though of epic proportions) and if you click on the photo and peer at the meal in front of me you will see that I have the Lettuce Mountain.  No danger of scurvy for me, ha ha!

Even the bread was especially nice, particularly the dark one that was very sweet.  Of course, then we just had to have cheesecake for dessert.  (Special thanks to Amanda for giving me the secret clue to desert and dessert.  It's working! ;o)

* * * *

Okay, since this was a bit of a short post here's something from my bits and pieces collection - those things I've been meaning to mention but haven't worked their way into the blog as yet.

And this one is ...
I discover Dr Pepper!
When Blair and I were little Dad used to make us 'long drinks' in 12 inch tall tapered drinking glasses (all different colours!) with a lot of lemonade and a very little cherry brandy.  We thought the drinks were very exciting - and guess what?  Dr Pepper is exactly the same taste.  I'm a fan ... or is that an addict?  Excellent stuff!
