Hamilton, Canada to Syracuse, USA

Today [Sunday, 30th September] we travelled from Hamilton, Ontario Canada through Niagara to Syracuse, New York. We started in overcast condition, and little traffic on the road. This I could not understand until I realized it was Sunday. We had started to lose track of which day was which. By the time we arrived in Niagara and crossed the bridge to the US it had started to rain. The queue to the border security station started on the Canadian side of the bridge. We slowly crept across the bridge having a good view of the falls. Fifteen minutes later we were through the border crossing, turned right to Goat Island and had close up view of the falls from the US side. Here we took many photos including many of squirrels (Jane will talk about these I am sure).

Midway across the bridge-the border between Canada and the US...

The falls...

the Maid of the Mist taking sightseers right up to the falls....

A movie clip of the falls and Gary....

From here we drove to Syracuse, stopping once, for lunch. During this drive we run into our first heavy rain of the trip. The rain came down in bucket fills, including the buckets. The weather changed from this....

to this...

About 3 o'clock we arrived at our hotel. Really it was the first New Zealand type motel we have stopped in. We all caught up on our emails, copied and saved our photos, had a rest then settled down to our afternoon drinks. There was not much else to do as the rain was still pouring down.
We ended the day by going out to a small chinese restaurant and had an exceptional meal.
