Today [Wednesday, 17th October] we head for Texas.
First around the corner to see some Halloween decorations...
then follow the normal tree lined motorway, however fortuanntently this soon opens up to interesting buildings and countryside....
round hay bails just like home...
a glimpse of some water....
one of the many roadside churches...
a radar or communication dome - I think....
a water tower....
and then we are in Texas. We stopped at the information centre took a photo of Jane in front of the Texas map sculpture. OK for geography experts we are on the wrong side of the statue!
Then lunch at the Catfish Village....
Back on the road and weren't we glad we were travelling west. The eastbound lane had a six mile stretch of traffic held up by some tar sealing work....
The outside temperature was up to 90F, but we trundled on with the aid of our air-conditioning. Then more harvest-festival pumpkins.....
a water slide, surely needed in these temperatures....
a large truck and trailer loading centre.....
some cattle.....
windmills.......
Then we approached Dallas...
Here we met, in my opinion, the worst city motorways of the trip. Old motorway systems, lots of 'spaghetti junctions', and too many cars swapping lanes and coming at you in all directions. I distracted myself by taking photos of the passing scenery. Unfortunately my camera battery ran out--then panic. I HATE city motorways.
Don't be fooled by what looks like open roads, they were attacking us from all sides at 70 mph!
Arrived at our hotel, had a few drinks then relaxed again. We are in TEXAS--why didn't they stick to their horses!
